IS NINE A RELIGIOUS RETREAT?
At NINE, we all come from different spiritual & religious beliefs but that is not the focus.
WHAT IS NINE'S MISSION?
NINE was founded with a desire to bring the spirit of childhood summer camp to women; to have fun, find a community and learn new business + life skills; we create experiences where purpose and passion come together.
CAN I CONNECT WITH THE WOMEN ATTENDING BEFORE WE ARRIVE?
Absolutely! We have an online forum for you to connect with every women signed up for your retreat.
You'll have a chance to introduce yourself, coordinate travel plans, get advice + support and more.
WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE OF THOSE ATTENDING?
It really varies from early 20's to early 60's. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter -- we're all just women coming together in one place.
I HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES (OR PREFERENCES). CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE THEM?
We always offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten free + soy-free options.
We will send you a form, shortly before the event, asking for you to list your allergies and dietary preferences.
We will do our absolutely best to accommodate them!
I'M AN INTROVERT. IT'S HARD TO OPEN UP IN FRONT OF LARGE GROUPS. IN NINE A GOOD FIT FOR ME?
NINE is full of introverts & quiet women.
Because NINE is pretty small & intimate, it's a little easier to open up and connect with people. We do offer a group energy clearing session on the first day. If you do not want to participate after learning about it, there is no pressure -- just let us know and you can observe. (We do hope you'll try - the experience is incredibly powerful and we HIGHLY recommend that you get your chance.) We also have set aside "Free Time" on each day, which gives you a chance to go for a walk, take a nap, journal and quiet your mind.
You have the choice to immerse yourself as much or as little as you're comfortable with!
DO I NEED TO OWN A BUSINESS TO ATTEND?
NO! Women that sign up for NINE are stay-at-home moms, entrepreneurs, work part of full-time, want to start a business, want to grow a business or even want to retire. We had women attend our NINE Retreat 2017 in Greer, Arizona (which had a business focus) and those without businesses took so much away from their experience. Some even walked away inspired to get back to work or start a business!
I'M NERVOUS ABOUT SHARING A ROOM WITH SOMEONE. IS THAT COMMON?
Absolutely! It's been a long time since we went to camp as girls or had roommates in college. Most of us live on our own or with our immediate families -- we're comfortable with who we know! The last 3 years, we've had women ask us: "HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU KNOW TO PAIR US TOGETHER IN THE SAME ROOM?? SHE'S MY NEW BFF!". The good news is that you'll be spending most of your time outside of your room, immersed in the classes + workshops + adventures! Your rooms are for storing your things, sleeping, showering and taking a moment to relax. If you have an issue with a roommate, we welcome you to speak to Kym or Kimberly directly and we'll see what we can do for you!
CAN YOU HELP ME WITH TRAVEL PLANS?
Yes! We are here for you every step of the way. Kimberly, our co-coordinator, is a pro when it comes to travel arrangements and connecting women to share rental cars, taxis and find someone to sit next to on the plane! Our biggest goal, though, is to help you get here safely, on time and save money.
WHAT IS THE FIRST NIGHT LIKE?
Check in. Unpack. Meet your roomies. Explore the property! Appetizers on the pavilion patio. A welcome from the organizers. New attendees pair up with a past attendee for an ice breaker. Dinner. Sit by the campfire. Head to bed!
WHAT ARE THE FULL DAYS LIKE?
Wake up! Head to yoga. Have a big breakfast. Go to your first class. Take a short break. Go to your next class. Take another short break. Have lunch. Learn from another speaker. Have a few hours of free time, meet with a speaker for a One-on-One session, learn to make a zero waste product or workout with GoFitJo! Have dinner. Attend a "Healing Circle" at the campfire or go for a walk to the river with new friends. Head to bed!
WHY IS ZERO WASTE IMPORTANT TO NINE?
Zero waste means setting a new goal for how we live in the world – to rebuild our local economies in support of community health, sustainability, and justice. Preventing waste and expanding reuse, recycling, and composting programs – that is, aiming for zero waste – is one of the fastest, cheapest, and most effective strategies available for combatting climate change.
Our founder, Kym Ventola, was forever changed after watching Inside Man: United States of Trash and then discovered a few bloggers that gave real-world inspiration for change.
WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
A couple of months before your retreat, we'll send you a link to page with all of the details! This includes a suggested list of things to pack. The link also includes the address, an Emergency Contact form, Dietary Restriction/Allergy form, average weather for the area, a tentative schedule for the week and more!
WHY IS ALCOHOL NOT ALLOWED AT NINE?
Over the last few years, we discovered how important it is to be completely present to reap the benefits of this experience at all times; it's important for the safety of all attendees as well. We do take this very seriously. We have an agreement that all attendees sign before the retreat; if anyone is caught with drugs or alcohol or becomes intoxicated at any point, they will be asked to leave without a refund. (we will make sure they have a designated driver or have sobered up before they leave, of course!)
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
100% of the registration fee is non-refundable. If the event is cancelled by NINE for any reason, all paid fees will be refunded back to you.
If you cannot attend the retreat for any reason, you should notify us as soon as possible. We welcome you to find a replacement for your spot; once your replacement pays in full, we will be happy to refund all money that you have paid NINE.
CAN I SPEAK TO SOMEONE THAT HAS ATTENDED NINE?
Yes! We are happy to connect you with one of our past attendees! We have quite a few that have offered to chat with anyone interested in coming to NINE.
